Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has unintentionally published hundreds of thousands of user conversations with its chatbot Grok online, making private chats searchable without users' consent. This has raised concerns as some conversations include sensitive information and illicit content, prompting comparisons to similar issues faced by OpenAI’s ChatGPT. While xAI has not commented, opportunists are reportedly exploiting the indexed chats for marketing purposes.

Dozens of xAI employees raised concerns over a project called "Skippy," which involved recording their facial expressions to help train the company's AI chatbot, Grok, to understand human emotions. Many workers refused to consent to the use of their facial data due to fears of misuse and the company's controversial history, including previous incidents involving antisemitic content from Grok.
