A place for the links and notes you would otherwise email to yourself.
Save from your browser, your iPhone or your inbox. Links are fetched and summarized; notes are kept as you wrote them. Everything is searchable.
Setup
- Create an account with Apple, Google, GitHub, Microsoft or an email address.
- Add the places you save from:
- The iPhone app, in beta on TestFlight. It adds QEY to the share sheet.
- The browser extension for Chrome, Brave and Edge. It adds a save button to the toolbar.
- Email. Send or forward anything to stash@mail.quitemailingyourself.com from the address on your account.
Notes
Anything that isn't a link goes to your stash: a few lines of text, a quote, a photo, a PDF. A title on its own is enough. On iPhone, a new note opens with the keyboard already up from:
- the Quick stash widget on the home or lock screen,
- the Quick stash control in Control Center,
- a long press on the QEY app icon, then New stash,
- Siri or Spotlight: “Quick stash in QEY”.
Type, press Return, and it's saved. The first line becomes the title. In the browser, highlight text, right-click and choose to save it to the stash.
Saving with Siri
Say “Hey Siri, stash something in QEY”. Siri asks what to stash and saves it without opening the app. “Stash this in QEY” and “Add to my QEY stash” work too, and Siri also accepts “Key” for QEY. These work as soon as the app is installed and you've signed in.
To say just “Hey Siri, stash something”, make a shortcut once:
- Open the Shortcuts app and tap +.
- Tap Add Action, search for QEY and choose Stash something.
- Rename the shortcut “Stash something” and tap Done.
Importing from Apple Notes
Apps can't read Apple Notes, so the import runs through a shortcut you add once:
- In the QEY app, open More, then Import from Notes.
- Tap Add the shortcut, choose Shortcuts in the sheet that opens, then Add Shortcut.
- Back in QEY, tap Choose notes to import. Your notes are listed newest first; tick the ones you want.
Each note becomes a stash, with its first line as the title. The first run asks to allow access to Notes and to QEY. Notes stay in Apple Notes; QEY keeps a copy.
Picking more than a few notes at once can stop with “This action is trying to share … Notes items, which is not allowed.” That is an iPhone setting: open Settings, then Apps, then Shortcuts, then Advanced, and turn on Allow Sharing Large Amounts of Data. Run the import again.
Listening
Any saved link can be read aloud: its summary and key points, or the full summary for a longer listen. Audio is made the first time you play it (new links are usually ready already) and kept, so it plays straight away after that.
- On a link's page, press Listen. More has the full summary. Queue next plays it after whatever is playing.
- Listen to your week plays everything you saved in the last seven days, one after another. Skip marks an item read; Save for reading keeps it unread.
- In the iPhone app, the Listen tab plays your unread links like a podcast, newest first, with lock-screen and headphone controls. Finishing one marks it read.
Privacy
What you save is visible only to you, unless you make an item or a collection public. There are no ads and no third-party analytics.
Saved links are summarized automatically. Notes in your stash are not sent to an AI model unless you press Process or use an AI action on them. Summaries and answers come from Anthropic; search uses OpenAI; read-aloud audio is made by ElevenLabs.
You can delete any item, or your whole account, from your profile. The full policy is on the privacy page.
Security
The site is served only over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes; if you sign in with Apple, Google, GitHub or Microsoft, QEY never sees a password.
Forms are protected against cross-site request forgery. The extension and the iPhone app each hold their own sign-in token; on iPhone it is kept in the Keychain.
