Caconemobius fori, also known as the Kīlauea lava cricket or dark lava cricket, is a small, wingless cricket endemic to the island of Hawai'i, specifically found on newly solidified lava flows from Kīlauea and Mauna Loa. This nocturnal species is one of the first to colonize fresh lava fields, relying on windblown debris for food and disappearing as plant life establishes itself. Its dark coloration allows it to blend seamlessly into its volcanic habitat.
