AI search engine Perplexity is accused by Cloudflare of using stealth tactics to bypass no-crawl directives set by websites, violating long-standing Internet norms. Despite websites implementing blocks through robots.txt files and firewalls, Perplexity allegedly employed undeclared crawlers that rotated IPs to continue accessing content across numerous domains. This behavior challenges the established Robots Exclusion Protocol that has been widely recognized since its inception in 1994.
