In December 2025, YouTube reported over 6 million daily viewers of auto dubbed content who watched at least 10 minutes of it, demonstrating the growing interest in this feature. The new Expressive Speech functionality enhances the viewing experience by better capturing the original emotion and energy of creators in eight languages, including English, French, and Spanish. YouTube has also introduced a Preferred Language setting, allowing users to specify their language preferences beyond the default determined by their watch history. This customization aims to improve the viewing experience for a diverse audience. YouTube is testing a Lip Sync pilot that aligns the translated audio with the speaker's lip movements, making dubbed videos feel more seamless. For creators, there are new tools like Automatic Smart Filtering, which prevents inappropriate dubbing for certain types of content, and assurance that auto dubbing won't negatively impact a video's discovery algorithm. Creators maintain control, as they can choose to provide their own dubbing or disable the feature entirely.
