Hackers accessed sensitive personal, treatment, and health insurance information between March and June 2025, with the breach detected on June 1. The healthcare provider completed its investigation with third-party cybersecurity experts by November 6. Compromised data includes names, Social Security numbers, treatment details, and health insurance information.
Notices to affected individuals began on July 31, with the latest notifications sent out on December 29. In response to the breach, Central Maine Healthcare has set up a dedicated incident response line and is offering one year of credit and identity theft monitoring, including dark web monitoring. The incident was only recently listed on the Maine Attorney Generalβs Office portal, which confirmed the number of impacted individuals as 145,381. The healthcare provider intends to enhance its security measures to prevent future incidents and advises individuals to monitor their healthcare statements closely.
