Klarna is teaming up with Marqeta to launch its debit card in 15 new European markets. Marqeta, a card issuing platform, will provide the technological backbone for this expansion. The move is part of Klarna's strategy to enhance its services as a digital bank while tapping into the growing demand for flexible payment options across Europe. Rahul Shah, Marqeta's Chief Product and Engineering Officer, highlighted the significance of this partnership, stating that the rollout demonstrates Marqeta's capability to drive innovation at scale. The collaboration will utilize Visa’s Flexible Credential, allowing Klarna to customize its card offerings effectively. This expansion is a key step for Klarna as it seeks to broaden its footprint in the competitive European payments market.
