Apple is reportedly developing a small AI pin, comparable in size to an AirTag, that features multiple cameras, microphones, and a speaker. The design includes a thin, flat, circular disc made from aluminum and glass, with two front-facing cameras—one standard and one wide-angle—for capturing photos and videos. The device also has three microphones to pick up ambient sound and a speaker for audio playback. A physical button on the edge allows for manual control, and the pin can charge wirelessly like an Apple Watch. While the final version aims to match the size of an AirTag, it will be slightly thicker. Currently, there’s no attachment method for wearing it, but this could change during development. The AI pin is expected to run on the new Siri chatbot set for release in iOS 27. It remains unclear whether Apple will sell the pin independently or bundle it with other devices, like smart glasses. The wearable AI market has faced challenges, with several companies, including OpenAI, Meta, and Amazon, exploring similar products. Apple’s entry into this space could be significant, especially as competition increases. The pin could potentially launch by 2027, but sources indicate that the project is still in its early stages and may be canceled.
