The iPhone Fold is advancing in production after Apple reportedly solved the long-standing issue of visible creases in folding phone displays. Traditionally, folding devices have struggled with screen durability and the crease that appears when the phone is unfolded. Apple has been actively involved in redesigning the display panel and the fold mechanism, collaborating closely with Samsung, which supplies the inner screen. The new design aims to eliminate the crease by integrating unique materials and processes developed by Apple. The project has now progressed to the engineering validation or verification testing (EVT) phase, which comes after initial prototypes. At this stage, around 100 units will be produced for testing, indicating that the iPhone Fold is moving beyond experimentation. Honghai Group has set up a dedicated production line for the device, marking a significant step toward its eventual release. The iPhone Fold, potentially branded as the iPhone Ultra, is expected to carry a hefty price tag, possibly reaching $2,400, with a launch anticipated next year.
