Ripple has acquired Palisade, a company specializing in digital asset wallet and custody solutions, to enhance its custody services. The Ripple Custody offering is aimed at fintech firms, corporations, and crypto-native businesses, although the financial details of the acquisition remain undisclosed. Palisade's technology adds robust wallet capabilities, enabling Ripple to cater to high-frequency transaction needs and streamline processes for customers requiring quick access to digital assets.
Ripple Custody already supports major financial institutions like BBVA and Societe Generale, acting as a secure vault for cryptocurrency holdings. It features a comprehensive management system for multiple assets and ensures compliance with a cryptographic approval process. Monica Long, Ripple’s president, emphasized the importance of secure digital custody in fostering crypto adoption among corporates, which are increasingly looking for reliable partners in the blockchain space.
Palisade’s technology includes rapid wallet provisioning, multi-chain support, and integration with decentralized finance (DeFi). Its governance and security measures, such as Multi-Party Computation (MPC) and zero-trust architecture, enhance the overall security of the custody solution. The integration of Palisade’s services into Ripple Payments will improve efficiency for use cases requiring quick responses, particularly in subscription payments.
Ripple's recent acquisition follows its launch of digital asset spot prime brokerage capabilities for U.S. clients through Ripple Prime. This expansion was facilitated by Ripple's earlier acquisition of Hidden Road and aims to offer institutional clients a wide range of over-the-counter trading options in digital assets, including XRP. With a network of over 300 clients across more than 40 countries, Ripple continues to strengthen its position in the cryptocurrency and blockchain sector.
