Eurofiber, a French B2B wholesale telecom, confirmed that cybercriminals accessed its data during a cyberattack on November 13. The breach specifically targeted the French division, impacting Eurofiber's cloud operations and regional brands like Eurafibre and FullSave. While the company reported that banking details and sensitive information were not compromised, the attack exploited a flaw in its ticket management platform. Eurofiber has since patched this vulnerability and enhanced security measures.
The scale of the breach remains unclear, as Eurofiber did not disclose how many individuals were affected. However, it assured that customers in Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands were not impacted. Although the overall business impact was described as "limited," some systems used by indirect sales partners experienced operational disruptions. Throughout the incident, customer-facing services continued to operate normally.
Eurofiber also indicated that it reported the incident to French cybersecurity agencies, suggesting the attackers may have aimed to extort the company for ransom. Despite the attack, Eurofiber highlighted its commitment to data protection and transparency, stating that it is working closely with cybersecurity experts to manage the situation. The incident comes amid a series of cyberattacks targeting B2B telcos, such as Colt and ICUK, prompting concerns about the security landscape for telecom companies in Europe.
