Revolut is introducing an in-app feature to combat impersonation scams, particularly those enhanced by AI deepfakes. This tool identifies when users are on a call and verifies whether the caller is a legitimate Revolut agent or a scammer. With only 25% of people able to detect a deepfake voice, live calls have become a significant vulnerability for users.
Rami Kalai, a product owner at Revolut, emphasized the need for rapid innovation to counter evolving fraud tactics. The feature provides real-time alerts, offering users contextual warnings and actionable steps to protect their finances during a scam attempt. This new tool adds to Revolut's previous efforts over the last two years, which include biometric verification and machine learning systems designed to identify risky transactions.
