It also supports various file types, allowing users to incorporate data from Google Sheets, images, PDFs, and Word documents directly into their research workflow.
If you do, here's more
NotebookLM has rolled out new features to enhance research capabilities, specifically through its Deep Research function and expanded file type support. Deep Research acts like a personal research assistant, generating detailed reports and recommending relevant sources based on user queries. It can scan hundreds of websites, learning and refining its search in real-time. Users can direct this tool to focus on specific areas, and once a report is generated, it can be easily integrated into their notebooks. This allows for an efficient workflow, as users can continue their work while Deep Research compiles information.
The update also supports various file types to accommodate different user needs. You can now upload Google Sheets to extract key data, add Google Drive files as URLs, and even include images of handwritten notes or brochures. PDFs can be imported directly from Google Drive, eliminating the need for downloading and re-uploading. Microsoft Word documents in .docx format are also supported, allowing for quick analysis of notes and drafts. These features are rolling out to users over the next week, with image support expected to follow shortly after.
