BreachForums, a well-known hacking forum, has experienced a significant data breach, leaking a user database that includes nearly 324,000 member accounts. This forum, which emerged after the shutdown of RaidForums, facilitates the trade of stolen data and access to compromised networks. The recent breach was tied to an archive released by a group called ShinyHunters, which contained a MyBB users database and a PGP private key used for signing messages from forum administrators. The leaked database, named "databoose.sql," holds 323,988 member records, detailing usernames, registration dates, and IP addresses. Most IP addresses in the database point back to a local loopback address, rendering them less useful for any malicious activity. However, about 70,000 records contain public IP addresses, which could present operational security risks for those users and provide valuable information for law enforcement. The BreachForums administrator acknowledged the breach, clarifying that the data originated from a previous leak dating back to August 2025, during a recovery phase. The administrator stated that the database was temporarily stored in an unsecured location and only downloaded once. Despite the claims of low risk due to the majority of local IP addresses, the information could still be significant for investigations. Following the story's publication, a cybersecurity firm verified that the password for the leaked PGP key was now accessible, raising further concerns about the implications of this breach for current and former users.
