Notion is expanding its Custom Agent platform, currently limited to a select group of organizations. The initial feature set includes connectors, with Slack as the first integration to enhance team communication. Upcoming connectors for Notion Calendar and Notion Mail will allow agents to automatically interact with calendar events and specific email topics. This setup suggests Notion agents could become central automation hubs, processing requests and triggering actions across various tools.
Future integrations with third-party services like Cursor, Linear, and Ramp are also planned. Cursor hints at potential collaborations among agents, while Linear and Ramp focus on automating project management and finance tasks, respectively. Notion is also working on user-managed custom MCPs, enabling organizations to direct agents to external automation endpoints and choose the types of connectors they need.
The Notion interface will soon feature new sections like Feed, Library, and Workers. Feed will display organizational updates, and Library will gather relevant pages for users. Workers will allow developers to create and manage their own sync databases and automations using an npm package. This addition will expand automation options beyond Notion's existing capabilities.
AI features are on the rise too, including an AI co-editor for in-line writing corrections, indicating competition with established writing tools.
