OpenAI is now selling additional Sora credits for $4, allowing power users to purchase extra video generations through Apple’s App Store. Currently, users can generate up to 30 videos for free each day, but that limit is expected to drop as the company begins monetizing the service more aggressively. Bill Peebles, who runs OpenAI's Sora, indicated on X that the decrease in free generations is necessary to manage resources, specifically GPU availability. Peebles also mentioned plans to let users license their copyrighted material for use in Sora, including artwork and character likenesses. This could allow rightsholders to charge fees for cameos of popular characters. However, this approach raises eyebrows, especially since OpenAI is currently facing a lawsuit from Cameo over trademark infringement.
