The Grammy Awards will introduce a Best Album Cover category for the first time in 2026, recognizing the artistic contributions behind iconic album art. This award shifts focus from performers to the art directors, although most nominees are also the artists themselves. The five nominees include Bad Bunny for *DebΓ Tirar MΓ‘s Fotos*, Tyler, the Creator for *Chromakopia*, DJO for *The Crux*, Wet Leg for *Moisturizer*, and Perfume Genius for *Glory*. Each nominee either directed their cover art or collaborated closely with visual artists.
The Recording Academy emphasizes that album covers enhance the music experience, blending visual art with sound. CEO Harvey Mason Jr. noted that in a digital age, cover art maintains significant impact, making this new category timely. The Best Album Cover award complements the existing Best Recording Package category, which considers all physical materials related to an album. The ceremony will take place on February 1, 2026, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and will be broadcast on CBS and Paramount+.
