Mollie is stepping up its game by enabling secure payments through AI assistants like ChatGPT, making it one of the first European payment providers to adopt OpenAI’s Agent Commerce Protocol (ACP). The company claims that once ACP launches in Europe, businesses will be able to accept payments driven by AI seamlessly. This initiative is a product of Mollie’s teams in Lisbon, who have developed a complete purchase flow that operates entirely within a conversational AI framework. Mollie’s integration with ACP’s Delegated Payment API is a key element in this advancement, allowing for agentic commerce across various digital platforms. Although ACP is not yet available in Europe, Mollie assures that its infrastructure is prepared to support businesses immediately upon the protocol's rollout. The company aims to simplify the payment process for merchants, removing the need for them to grasp the complexities of the evolving technology. Bernardo Caldas, Mollie's director of data and AI, emphasized the company’s commitment to being an AI commerce enabler for European businesses. He highlighted that their focus is on ensuring customers can sell through AI from the start, without needing deep technical knowledge. Mollie is also collaborating with Google to develop the Agent Payments Protocol and is working with e-commerce partners to ensure businesses can take advantage of this shift toward AI-driven commerce right from the beginning.
