This article explains how marketers can use Screaming Frog alongside Google's URL Inspection API to automate and enhance site indexation checks. By integrating these tools, users can quickly gather technical data like coverage and indexability for multiple URLs, saving time compared to manual checks.

Screaming Frog now integrates with Google Search Console (GSC) to help SEOs automate the process of checking how Google indexes their sites. By using the URL Inspection API, marketers can extract important indexation reports directly within their crawls. This integration provides access to data like clicks, impressions, and click-through rates (CTR) alongside technical details such as Coverage and Indexability from GSCβs "Indexation" tab.
To set this up, users need to open Screaming Frog, go to the Configuration menu, and select API Access to link their Google account. After choosing the desired GSC property, they enable URL Inspection and start the crawl in Spider mode. As the crawl progresses, data appears in the sidebar, showing various metrics related to indexing. Thereβs a limit of 2,000 URLs per day, so it's efficient for spotting issues like "Crawled, not indexed" pages in bulk rather than one by one.
The ability to pull URL Inspection data into a crawl streamlines the process significantly. It allows SEOs to identify trends quickly, making it easier to prioritize which sections of a site to analyze further. With this method, teams can focus on high-traffic or newly created pages, maximizing their efficiency when assessing site health and indexation status.
