Scientists, while recognizing potential benefits, remain cautious about trusting AI with critical research tasks. Their use of AI is currently limited to auxiliary functions, like writing and debugging. The interviews produced a mix of positive and negative sentiments. General workforce participants highlighted concerns about job security and the need for human skills in roles that AI might take over. Creatives mentioned both the efficiency gained from AI and their worries about losing the nuances of human creativity. Scientists pointed to the promise of AI in data integration and research assistance, but expressed skepticism about AI’s reliability and data security.
