Google launched Nano Banana Pro, a new image editing and generation tool, built on its Gemini 3 Pro AI model. This release follows a successful week for the company, which saw its stock rise 4%. Josh Woodward, vice president of Google Labs, highlighted that Nano Banana Pro can create infographics, slide decks, and maintain character consistency across multiple images. Internal testing has shown users inputting code and resumes to generate visuals, showcasing the tool's versatility. The original Nano Banana gained popularity for turning photos into hyperrealistic 3D figurines, attracting 13 million new users to the Gemini app in just four days. Nano Banana Pro is available in the Gemini app with limited free quotas and is integrated into Google’s writing assistant, NotebookLM, as well as its developer and advertising products. Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers will see it in the search features AI Mode, with plans to expand to the AI filmmaking tool, Flow. In the context of competition, Google aims to catch up with OpenAI, which recently updated its GPT-5 model. ChatGPT leads app downloads on the Apple App Store, while Gemini ranks second. Google’s Gemini app has over 650 million monthly active users, and its AI Overviews reach 2 billion monthly users. Woodward noted a rising demand for Google AI products, prompting users to sign up for subscription plans to access advanced features. The company is focused on scaling its AI offerings, including the introduction of Genie, a "world building" model in limited preview.
