Adobe has upgraded its Firefly AI video-generation app to include a new video editor that allows users to make precise edits using text prompts. Previously, any changes required starting over with the entire clip. With this update, users can modify video elements like colors and camera angles directly through text commands. A new timeline view enhances usability by letting users adjust frames and sounds more easily. The update, which began in private beta in October, is now available to all users.
The app now supports Runway’s Aleph model, enabling specific instructions like altering the sky or adjusting zoom levels on subjects. Additionally, Adobe’s Firefly Video model allows users to upload a starting frame and a reference video for camera motion, simplifying the editing process for complex shots. The integration of Topaz Labs’ Astra model lets users upscale videos to 1080p or 4K resolution, while the FLUX.2 model from Black Forest Labs is also being added, with immediate availability across platforms and for Adobe Express users starting in January.
In a bid to compete with other platforms, Adobe is offering unlimited generations from its image models and the Firefly Video Model for subscribers of specific plans until January 15. This follows a series of updates throughout the year, including launching a subscription model for different levels of image and video generation, a new web app, and mobile applications. Adobe aims to strengthen user engagement with these enhancements, particularly as competitors roll out new features in the same space.
