TikTok is enhancing its approach to managing AI-generated content (AIGC) on its platform. They're testing a new feature in the 'Manage Topics' section that allows users to control how much AIGC appears in their For You feeds. Users can adjust their preferences to see more or less of specific types of content, such as history or art generated by AI. This feature builds on existing tools that let users personalize their content experience, like keyword filters and the "not interested" button.
TikTok is also improving its labeling of AIGC. They're introducing "invisible watermarking," a method that embeds a hidden marker in videos created with TikTok's tools or those using C2PA Content Credentials. This aims to prevent labels from being removed when content is shared or edited elsewhere. So far, the platform has labeled over 1.3 billion videos, but the invisible watermark will add a layer of security that makes it harder for others to alter the content's status as AI-generated.
To promote AI literacy, TikTok is launching a $2 million educational fund aimed at experts, including organizations like GirlsWhoCode. This initiative will support the creation of content that informs users about AI safety and literacy. TikTok is also collaborating with non-profit The Partnership on AI, participating in research on AI's impact on business and human interactions. The platform is committed to continuously updating its labeling practices as industry standards evolve while maintaining strict policies against harmful AIGC.
