Anthropic has launched Opus 4.6, its most advanced AI model to date, just a few months after releasing version 4.5. This update introduces “agent teams,” which allow multiple AI agents to collaborate on tasks by dividing responsibilities and working in parallel. Scott White, Head of Product at Anthropic, likens this feature to a skilled human team, emphasizing that it enhances efficiency and speeds up task completion. Currently, agent teams are available in a research preview for API users and subscribers. Another significant improvement in Opus 4.6 is the expanded context window, now offering 1 million tokens. This capability enables the model to handle larger code bases and documents, enhancing its usability for various applications. In addition, this version integrates Claude directly into PowerPoint, allowing users to create and edit presentations without needing to transfer files between platforms, streamlining the workflow. White noted that the evolution of Opus reflects a shift from a tool primarily for software development to one that serves a broader range of knowledge workers. Users now include not just software engineers but also product managers and financial analysts. The changes aim to make the model useful for a wider audience, catering to diverse industries and tasks.
