Apple Creator Studio combines multiple apps for video editing, music production, and graphic design into a subscription service. It offers significant upgrades to existing tools like Pixelmator Pro, Final Cut Pro, and Logic Pro, making it a strong alternative to Adobe's Creative Cloud. However, the subscription model may deter some users, especially those focused on iPhone editing.

Apple has launched a subscription service, Creator Studio, aimed at competing with Adobe's Creative Cloud. For $12.99 a month or $129 a year, users get access to a suite of ten apps, including Pixelmator Pro, Final Cut Pro, and Logic Pro. Students and educators can subscribe for just $2.99 a month or $29.99 a year. While you can still purchase some of these apps individually from the Mac store, the subscription model might deter users wary of another monthly fee. The service seems particularly focused on Mac and iPad users, catering to serious creators rather than casual designers.
Pixelmator Pro, acquired by Apple in 2024, offers robust graphic design and image editing capabilities. It features templates for beginners, adjustable brushes, and AI tools like automatic background removal. However, some brushes lack the pressure sensitivity found in programs like Photoshop or Procreate. Upgrades include a new Warp tool for reshaping layers and the ability to mock up designs on products, but it may not replace Procreate for illustrators.
Final Cut Pro has seen significant enhancements, such as Transcript Search for locating clips and a new Montage feature that simplifies editing. It also includes Beat Detection for syncing clips with audio. Motion and Compressor are part of the suite, with Motion offering advanced motion graphics tools. Logic Pro introduces features like Synth Player and Chord ID, making it easier for users to create and understand their music compositions. Keynote has incorporated AI elements, allowing users to generate presentations from notes, enhancing productivity options within the suite.
