Iberia, Spain's largest airline, has alerted customers about a data breach linked to a supplier’s compromised systems. The airline reported that personal information, including names, email addresses, and loyalty card identification numbers, may have been exposed. However, Iberia clarified that account login details, passwords, and financial information were not affected.
The breach comes shortly after a hacker claimed to possess 77 GB of data from Iberia, which they intended to sell for $150,000. While the hacker’s post mentioned internal technical data and maintenance files, it's unclear if this data is connected to the customer information disclosed by Iberia. The airline has activated its security protocols, added extra email protections, and is monitoring for unusual activity. Authorities have been notified, and the investigation into the breach is ongoing. Customers are advised to remain vigilant against potential phishing attempts.
