Meta's new Vibes AI video feed has about 2 million daily active users as of November 9, showing a modest growth of 1% from the previous week. These figures come from internal documents accessed by Business Insider, offering a first glimpse into user engagement with this feature since its introduction in late September. Vibes allows users to create and scroll through AI-generated videos and launched just before OpenAI's competing app, Sora.
The growth of Vibes is particularly strong in India and Brazil, where daily active users increased by 22% and 13%, reaching 704,000 and 114,000, respectively. In Europe, Vibes added 23,000 daily users since its launch on November 6, with France, Italy, and Spain leading the uptake. However, usage has declined in parts of Southeast Asia; the Philippines and Thailand reported drops of 9% and 7% in daily active users, likely due to a slowdown in viral content.
User behavior varies significantly between new and returning users. New users typically explore both scrolling and prompting the AI, while returning users focus more on prompting. About 52% of returning users engage with the AI prompts, whereas only 30% scroll through videos. Engagement also differs based on how users access Vibesβ40% open the feed directly from the app's prompts, but this group tends to interact less. Critics have labeled much of the content as "AI slop," highlighting concerns over the quality and political nature of some clips, particularly those related to figures like Donald Trump.
