Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reports that Apple is set to unveil a redesigned MacBook Pro between late 2026 and early 2027. This redesign will introduce an OLED display with touch support, moving away from the current miniLED technology. The new model will also feature a thinner chassis and potential 5G support, along with a different design element resembling the Dynamic Island cutout rather than the traditional notch. Currently, Apple has three MacBook Pro models, including a base 14-inch version with an M5 chip and higher-end variants with M4 Pro and M4 Max chips. The base model has fewer cooling options, with a single fan compared to two in the Pro and Max versions. Gurman suggests that the base model won’t receive the redesign at the same time as the higher-end models, which could mean users seeking the latest features will need to purchase the M6 Pro or M6 Max versions. In addition to the new MacBook Pro models, Apple plans to roll out multiple M5 chip variants, including updates for the Mac mini and Mac Studio. However, the significant redesign and OLED display are expected only in the higher-end models, leaving the base model largely unchanged for at least another year. If consumers are looking to buy the latest design and features, they'll have to opt for the more expensive versions of the MacBook Pro.
