Ben Levik, leading operations and AI product teams at Ramp, emphasizes a proactive approach to AI integration at work. Rather than waiting for AI tools to improve, Ramp focuses on building what Levik calls an "AI operating system." He identifies four mindsets towards AI: Doomers, Zoomers, Boomers, and Builders. Builders are key to driving impact; they actively refine their roles instead of relying on technology to solve problems automatically.
Ramp has developed a three-stage process to cultivate the Builder mindset: Prompt, Knowledge, and Workflow. In the Prompt stage, employees learn to create precise prompts for AI, moving away from vague inquiries. The Knowledge stage involves consolidating information into a single source in Notion, with feedback loops for continuous accuracy. Finally, the Workflow stage automates processes without heavy engineering support, allowing teams to scale their operations effectively. For instance, product teams receive weekly updates automatically synthesized from various sources, enabling them to ship 270 features in just the first half of 2025.
Levik stresses that organizations must act now rather than wait for AI to simplify. Teams that practice and adapt will gain an edge as technology evolves. Ramp's experience shows that building a robust framework for AI can lead to significant improvements in productivity and efficiency.
