LKQ Corporation, a major player in the automotive parts sector, has confirmed it was affected by a cyber attack targeting Oracle's E-Business Suite (EBS). The company reported that the personal information of over 9,000 individuals was compromised. This breach includes sensitive data from sole proprietor suppliers, such as Employer Identification Numbers and Social Security Numbers. LKQ began its investigation into the incident on October 3, concluding its analysis by December 1. They assured that their systems outside the EBS environment weren't affected.
The Cl0p ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the attack, listing LKQ among more than 100 organizations they targeted. Several terabytes of data allegedly stolen from LKQ's EBS instance are now available for download on the group's site. LKQ is not new to cyber threats; a year prior, they faced another attack that disrupted operations in a Canadian unit. Other notable companies affected by the Oracle EBS breach include Logitech, Canon, and Mazda, although many still haven't publicly acknowledged their involvement.
