Monad is launching its Layer 1 blockchain and the native MON token on November 24 at 9 a.m. ET. The event has generated significant excitement in the crypto community, especially with airdrops aimed at early supporters and active users of major protocols like Aave and Uniswap. Around 225,000 verifiable users will receive the airdrop, which is designed to foster a strong community of stakeholders.
The Monad Foundation opened a token claim portal in mid-October, allowing users to check their MON allocations. Interest was high enough that the partnering wallet service, Privy, experienced performance issues when the portal launched. Monad aims to reward not just regular users but also participants from various sectors of the crypto ecosystem, including NFT holders and DAO governance members.
Founded in 2022, Monad raised $225 million to develop a network that combines the speed of Solana with the decentralization of Ethereum. A testnet earlier this year showcased its capacity for parallel transaction execution and sub-second finality. At launch, Monad plans to support integrations with popular decentralized applications and wallets, enhancing its usability right from the start. Details about the tokenomics remain under wraps for now.
