A new Apple Studio Display is expected to launch in 2026, featuring significant upgrades. The anticipated enhancements include an A19 chip, ProMotion with a 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR support. These improvements were highlighted in a report by Filipe EspΓ³sito at Macworld, which drew from recent code findings. Currently, the existing Studio Display uses an A13 Bionic chip, has a refresh rate of 60Hz, and supports only standard dynamic range (SDR).
The addition of HDR suggests Apple might replace the existing LCD panel with advanced technology like Mini-LED, allowing for higher brightness and better image quality. Even without further changes to the display's design, these upgrades would represent a substantial leap forward. The release is likely to coincide with high-end M5 MacBook Pro models early in 2026 or possibly later with the M5 Mac Studio and Mac mini.
Bloomberg also noted that another Mac display is on the horizon for next year, though details remain scarce. It could either be a successor to the Pro Display XDR or a new size option for the Studio Display. The same code leak hints at an iPad equipped with the A19 chip and N1, alongside the previously mentioned M4 iPad Air.
