Adobe has launched new AI assistants for its Express and Photoshop applications, enhancing image creation and editing capabilities. The Express assistant operates in a dedicated mode that allows users to generate images using text prompts while still providing access to traditional editing tools. This dual-mode approach aims to make the technology more accessible, particularly for students and professionals, as explained by Alexandru Costin, Adobe’s VP of generative AI. In contrast, the Photoshop assistant, currently in closed beta, is integrated into the sidebar. It can manage layers, assist with object selection, and automate repetitive tasks like background removal and color changes. Adobe is also working on "Project Moonlight," a new assistant that will link with other Adobe tools and a creator's social media to better understand individual styles. This project is still in the early development phase and is being tested privately. Additionally, Adobe is exploring a connection between Adobe Express and ChatGPT, potentially allowing users to create designs directly within the ChatGPT interface. The company has announced new AI features for Creative Cloud apps, including the ability for Photoshop users to choose from third-party generative models like Google’s Gemini 2.5. The video editing app Premiere Pro will also gain an AI-powered object masking feature to simplify the process of selecting and editing objects.
