Copied!
Do you care about this?
Microsoft is testing a policy that lets IT admins uninstall the Copilot app on managed devices running Windows 11 Insider Preview. This applies to devices where Copilot was not user-installed and hasn't been used in the last 28 days. Admins can enable this through the Group Policy editor.
If you do, here's more
Microsoft is rolling out a policy allowing IT administrators to uninstall the Copilot digital assistant from managed devices. The RemoveMicrosoftCopilotApp policy is now available in the Dev and Beta Insider channels for systems running Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.7535 (KB5072046). Admins can apply this policy through Microsoft Intune or the System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) on devices where both Microsoft 365 Copilot and the Microsoft Copilot app are installed. Notably, this applies only if the app was not user-installed and hasn't been launched in the past 28 days.
When enabled, the policy will remove the Microsoft Copilot app once, though users can reinstall it if they wish. Itβs applicable to Enterprise, Pro, and EDU editions. To enable the policy, admins need to access the Group Policy Editor, navigating to User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows AI -> Remove Microsoft Copilot App.
The latest beta build also addresses several issues, including a crash in File Explorer when accessing the desktop context menu, and problems with the Windows Update settings page. The Windows Insider team is actively working on fixing bugs that affect the Settings app, Start menu, notification center, and quick settings.
