In a recent announcement, Stripe outlined its involvement in agentic commerce, highlighting three key developments. They now power Instant Checkout within ChatGPT, release the Agentic Commerce Protocol in collaboration with OpenAI, and provide an API for agentic payments called Shared Payment Tokens. This integration allows users to shop directly through ChatGPT, offering a seamless purchasing experience from various platforms like Etsy and Shopify. Stripe also showcased advancements in financial agents using OpenAI's Agents SDK. The toolkit enables developers to create multi-agent workflows, with features like handoffs and guardrails to ensure proper functioning. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is another notable release, facilitating connections between applications and large language models (LLMs), enhancing their ability to interact with third-party services. Finally, Stripe has made it possible for teenagers aged 13 and older to start companies using the Atlas service. Over 50 young entrepreneurs have already launched ventures addressing issues like climate change and AI development, demonstrating a strong trend among youth toward innovation and social responsibility.
