Microsoft is looking into a bug affecting the Windows 10 KB5068781 extended security update. This update, released on November 11 as part of Patch Tuesday, is failing to install on some devices with corporate licensing, resulting in error code 0x800f0922. Users in corporate environments report that the update seems to install correctly but then rolls back after a restart, failing to apply.
The problem appears to be limited to devices activated through Windows subscription activation via the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. Although Microsoft has acknowledged the issue, thereβs no timeline for a fix, and no workarounds have been provided. Additionally, some Windows admins have noted that not all licensed devices are being recognized as needing the KB5068781 update, complicating patch management further.
To address challenges in patching workflows, BleepingComputer plans to host a webinar on December 2 with Action1, focusing on modern patch management strategies. This comes at a time when organizations are increasingly reliant on automated solutions to keep their IT infrastructure secure and efficient.
