Microsoft is ramping up its data center operations with a new AI “super factory” in Atlanta. This facility is part of its Fairwater network, designed specifically for AI training. The factory will feature two-story structures filled with hundreds of thousands of Nvidia graphics processing units (GPUs) and high-speed connections to other Fairwater sites. This ambitious expansion aims to double Microsoft’s data center footprint over the next two years, positioning the company to meet the growing demand for AI computing power. OpenAI is a significant customer of this new infrastructure, showcasing the strategic partnership between the two companies. The Atlanta site will not only support OpenAI but also facilitate the training of Microsoft’s own proprietary AI models.
