Anthropic is building a Money feature for Claude that will let users connect their bank accounts directly through the mobile app. Instead of manually uploading statements or transaction exports each time, Claude would have persistent access to your financial data and could answer questions about spending patterns, recurring payments, account balances, and budgeting. The exact mechanics—which banks it'll support, which data provider handles the connections, and what actions users can actually take—haven't been announced yet. The feature shows up as a separate tab in the mobile navigation, though nothing like it exists on the web version of Claude. This move puts Anthropic on the same path as OpenAI, which already launched ChatGPT Finances for US Plus and Pro subscribers. That product uses Plaid to connect accounts and covers spending, subscriptions, net worth, and investments. Anthropic's been pushing into finance for a while—Claude already works with third-party tools like Era Context and PocketSmith, and the company has built finance-specific agents aimed at professional users. A consumer-facing Money tab would bring that capability directly to regular Claude users without requiring them to set up integrations themselves. The feature has progressed far enough that it's visible in unreleased interface elements, meaning development is past early stages. A launch could happen in the coming weeks, though Anthropic might just be running internal tests. A US-only release makes sense initially because of banking infrastructure differences, regulatory hurdles, and compliance requirements—expanding to the EU or elsewhere would need more work on that front.
