JustPaid, a startup based in Mountain View, California, has harnessed the AI platform OpenClaw alongside Anthropic’s coding tool Claude Code to create a largely autonomous software engineering team. Co-founder Vinay Pinnaka has established a group of seven AI agents that can produce code continuously, significantly speeding up development. Since launching this AI workforce, JustPaid has completed ten major features in just a month—each traditionally taking human developers much longer to finish. The company focuses on automating financial operations and employs nine people. The human developers are now assigned to higher-priority tasks like addressing customer requests, while the AI agents handle routine coding. Pinnaka sees potential for AI to take over more roles, but he notes that true replacement hinges on AI achieving a level of human empathy. Concerns remain about cybersecurity and the overall implications of replacing human engineers with AI, even as the trend towards automation in software development gains momentum across Silicon Valley.
